, cooler than what i just -- colder than what i just showed you. 43, santa rosa. 41, napa. upper 30s at novato, fairfield, concord, and livermore so you know it's going to be cold in those locations overnight. and now a beautiful view of a clear sky over the bay bridge from our exploratorium camera. these are our forecast features. a freeze warning in effect, "spare the air" alert for tomorrow, that's the second consecutive day. we had one today as well. and chilly days ahead. chilly afternoons on monday and tuesday, before we start to get a break in the cold snap. here's the pacific satellite image. you can see the movement of weather systems today. cold front moved south of us. the cold air continues to spill behind the clouds, moving into southern california, and clear skies in the bay area. so at 7:00 this evening, you won't see much happen overnight in terms of sky conditions. it will remain clear but temperatures will drop and they won't rise much tomorrow. so it's going to be another chilly day. overnight tonight look for low temperatures dropping to 21 at napa. 23 at santa ro

people from making the best of it. rose why flores has been following posts on social media. rosa, what are you seeing out there? >> i've been seeing a little bit of everything. some pictures of dangerous roads, slushy airports and then this. take a look, eagles and lions fans in what they say are blizzard like conditions cheering on their favorite team. now one woman even tweeted me saying she bought tickets for her husband and that, well, it was for his birthday and he is out there sending her photos of the snowy mess. if you're curious, eagles did better on the snow winning the game 34-20. but conditions on roadways can get very dangerous. very slick out there. this picture tweeted out by dan amos. of a 30-car pileup in milwaukee, wisconsin. a reminder for you folks, stay home if you can. take a lock at low visibility in eugene oregon. this photo is from i-reporter steve gladder. temperature there he says, negative 10 degrees. thank you so much for sending your pictures and comments on twitter. that of course is @rosaflores. >> at least people have a sense of humor and we appreciate

jersey turnpike. what's going on out there, rosa? >> wolf, up with of the things we're dealing with is low visibility. so all the drivers out there using their low beams, there is precipitation in certain areas so they're using the windshield wipers and it's in the 30s. they're also cranking up the heat. let me set the scene for you. you can see that visibility is low. the clouds are low. so drivers are being very careful out there. you're looking at the new jersey turnpike. traffic is moving at a pretty good clip right now. the office of emergency management tells us they're dealing with two things, the southern part of new jersey, ponding and flooding. and the northern parts of the state, they're dealing with snow, sleet, ice on the roads. so it can be treacherous. the department of transportation said they were preparing for the absolute worst. they have about 2,000 pieces of equipment that can spread salt or that can plow the roads. they used 800 overnight and right now, they are assessing the situation. i talked to state police, as well. they tell me there are no major acc

of the country are getting socked with snow again but first, let's go live to cnn's rosa flores in ridgefield, new jersey. how is it out there? >> reporter: well, you know, the temperatures are dropping, visibility is expected to be low and the national weather service just released an advisory with two to four inches expected. so you know exactly what that means. if you're going to be out on the roads, that means that you will need those low beams for low visibility, the windshield -- your windshield wipers for all the precipitation and you have to crank up the heat. i talked to the new jersey office of emergency management and they tell me this storm has moved from south to north, which means that all of the snow and ice and sleet they saw earlier in the day in the southern parts of the state has melted. that's one of the worries, folks, because temperatures are expected to drop below freezing, which means that a lot of those roads are going to have -- are going to be in treacherous condition. they tell us bridges, overpasses, untreated roads are expected to be very dangerous so they're ask

now, we've got 23 in santa rosa, 24 in napa 32 in livermore but a sign of warmer weather on the way. >> we already have problems in oakland, a traffic alert, a big rig hit some of the sand barrels and there was debris all over the roadway. they just cleared all lanes but the fifth avenue off ramp will remain closed the next couple hours so we have a couple other issues including black ice. >> it's a monday. >> i know, and wind advisory as well. >> and it is cold out there and we spoke to people in the eastbay that they don't seem to mind the cold. in fact those freezing temperatures didn't keep folks home over the weekend. kpix spent the day in concord. >> reporter: with temperatures headed for freezing, snow was piling up here in walnut creek at the ice rink on civic and folks were putting on more clothes. >> dressed up, bundled, three layers down. >> good day to come ice skating? >> great day. >> the sun was shining in late afternoon as the temperature dropped to 40 degrees. >>ha

all day. not to mention creative work from the field crews there. rosa flores joins us now in richfield, naurnl. how are things now? >> reporter: john, slick, wet road conditions are what drivers are expecting. we talked to a driver who made a 180 on the interstate. and let's say that he's counting his blessings this morning. we have plight precipitation. and if you take a look, visibility is one of the things that emergency officials are tell us that they're worried about. clouds are low, visibility is low. they're worried about that. i just got off the phone with the new jersey department of transportation, and they say that they said 800 trucks out overnight plowing and spreading salt to make sure the roadways were as good as can be for drivers. i also talked to the emergency management. and they tell me that in new jersey, they saw almost a slit. now the storm was moving from south to north. and the conditions initially were really bad in the southern part of new jersey. now they're experiencing more flooding and ponding in that part of the state. so they're asking driv

for some of the coldest temperatures, santa rosa and petaluma at 20 degrees and mill valley at 27 degrees. about 24 degrees in novato and 23 in american canyon and sausalito is close to freezing, same in calistoga and bodega bay at 34. san francisco is at 37 degrees and half moon bay, as well, and cupertino and lafayette looking good. san ramon is 40 in the hills but in the valley toward 680, it is 28 degrees. we have 12 degree microclimate over a mile and a half to two miles. sutro tower is cool, but it is a "spare the air" day with all of the sunshine and it will be hazy from time to time, and freezing cold and most of us tonight and slowly warming afternoons will translate into slowly warming overnight temperatures, too, but not today, upper 40's to low 50's. san jose the high was 47 degrees almost a record cold high tomorrow. the record is 46. tonight, we are in the 20's in most neighborhoods and low-to-mid 30's around palo alto and richmond and half moon bay and mid-30's around oakland and san mateo and the least likely areas to see frost the tonight we have high pressure over the oc
